Following in the steps of Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Chris Daughtry and Jordin Sparks has to put a bit of pressure on an artist when it comes to racking up those top ten singles. Certainly the public had big expectations of Kris Allen, the winner of the 2009's American Idol and his first major label debut single 'Live Like We're Dying' was a strong opening statement. Although Allen is a songwriter himself, with a self-released album - 2007's 'Brand New Shoes' - already under his belt, 'Live Like We're Dying' was originally written and recorded by Irish band The Script. Beginning with some reasonably funky drumming under a piano chord progression and a nifty guitar hook the song moves into an energetic chorus that allows Allen to give his lungs a bit of exercise.
